Clinicians & Health Professionals
Salud Para La Gente has been designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) by the United States government. Salud located in an underserved rural area and is qualified to work with the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) in assisting new scholars to fulfill their designated time requirements/scholarship requirements. Salud also works with the NHSC in assisting qualified physicians with student loan repayments.
In exchange for up to $50,000 to repay student loans, providers will practice for two years in an American community desperately needing medical providers.
Many National Health Service Corps participants continue providing full-time primary care in a high-need Health Professional Shortage Area after their NHSC service. After fulfilling the two-year service commitment, a provider may apply for an additional year of funding to repay unpaid qualifying educational loans.
The Loan Repayment Program will be accepting new applications in coming months. The Recovery Act provided additional funds that will enable loan repayment contracts for more clinicians this year.
The National Health Service Corps has stated: "America's Health Care Heroes live and work in communities around the country. They bring health and hope to the millions of children and adults who live in places where health professionals are hard to come by."
